It’s a great time to join our team.  Draper Group is consistently growing, and to support that growth we’re looking to hire an Accounts Assistant to join our busy Dorchester based team, to support the Finance Manager and the general operations of the finance function.

Who are we?

Draper Group provide an innovative ‘one stop shop’ for computerised climate control and flock management systems for commercial poultry housing.  One of only a handful of businesses in the UK pioneering this technology and growing extensively, the future is bright for the growth of the business.  This role is pivotal in ensuring that the day to day operations of the finance function happen, under the guidance of the Finance Manager.

What you’ll be doing.

Organisation, accuracy and attention to detail are crucial in this busy and varied role.  We’ll be looking to you to ensure purchase invoices are entered correctly, all supplier statements are reconciled monthly, and all queries are dealt with promptly and appropriately.

This role focusses on the completion of monthly finance housekeeping and administration to keep the function operating at optimum, and alongside the day to day tasks, you’ll also need to take responsibility for supporting the Finance Manager with month end management accounting – tasks like reconciliations and liaising with external accountants to ensure we’ll be ready for year end.

Alongside this will be all the duties you’d expect from an accounts assistant role – credit control, compliance, and monitoring and updating internal policies and procedures.

Who you’ll be?

You’ll have previous experience of working within a finance function at a similar level, ideally within an SME or growing organisation.  An AAT or industry qualification would be preferred, but it isn’t essential for the role – in fact if it’s something you’re interested in pursuing, following a successful completion of probation period, we’re happy to have a conversation about how we might be able to support this financially.

To excel in this role, you’ll be an organised, multitasker who thrives in a pressured and busy environment, coupled with excellent attention to detail and a meticulous approach to data and information.  You’ll also be capable of supporting and working alongside the Finance Manager to ensure the smooth running of the function.

We're a growing business and our department is non-stop.  This means that we need someone who does what is needed to ensure the work is completed, which might sometimes mean a small amount of flexibility is required in terms of working hours - but the same could be offered in return.

What’s in it for you?

The opportunity to work within a consistently growing and ambitious business and be a part of the continuous journey of growth we’re currently on.

We can offer a healthy level of autonomy, whilst being part of a wider team working alongside experienced finance professionals to help you further your career.

In addition, a competitive starting salary is offered – in line with your current level of skills and experience.

If this is the right opportunity for you, apply with a CV and covering letter to explain why you’d be perfect for the role.
