Sweet Construct are growing, and to drive that growth we’re hiring a Carpenter, qualified to NVQ Level 3 and with experience of working on medium – large commercial and residential projects. The role will be working on varying client sites around the South West, so you’ll need to be happy with travel and some overnight stays when required.

What you’ll be doing
The work is varied, and spans across first and second fix projects, across a range of sites in the South West. We’ll be looking to you to ensure health and safety on site is maintained, and you’ll work with members of the team to ensure that all our work is undertaken to the high standard we’re renowned for, aiming for a ‘first time fix’, whilst keeping an eye on timing and budget constrictions.
You’ll be managing small groups, to co-ordinate production and the erection of structures, whilst guiding other team members to ensure a high-quality carpentry output. You’ll liaise with the Site Manager with regards to project progress and the Assistant Site Manager to ensure stock and material levels are where they should be.
You’ll also have some responsibility to support, coach and mentor the carpentry apprentices and nurture young talent within the business.
Who you’ll be?
You’ll be qualified to NVQ level 3 as a minimum, and you’ll have enough experience behind you that you can run with work autonomously and support other members of the team. You’ll have second and first fix experience, and you’ll have worked on a wide variety of medium – large projects, commercial and residential. You’ll also be comfortable understanding and interpreting drawings, specifications and RAMs.
As the role is working across all our South West based sites, you’ll need to be happy with travel and overnight stays when required. There will also be some weekend work from time to time.
You’ll have an in date CSCS card, a full set of your own tools and due to the travel required, you’ll need a full driving license.
