Sweet Construct are growing, and to drive that growth we’re hiring an Assistant Buyer to work with our Commercial team and the Flax Bourton office

Sweet Construct are a busy family run Construction company based in Nailsea and Flax Bourton, with turnover c£40m and 60 employees.  Rapidly growing, and recently rebranded, we’re transforming the face of modern construction.

The role 

You will provide direct support to the Procurement Manager and will assist with raising, creating and submitting Purchase Orders.  You will employ your keen eye for detail and persuasive negotiation skills to build long-term relationships with suppliers as well as with internal teams.   You will proactively identify and challenge our existing processes and implement innovative improvements, creating new best practice procedures which will benefit the whole company.

Your analytical mind and logical thought process will help you to achieve the most desirable supply routes and project outcomes.  You will thrive as you undertake research on potential suppliers so that you can make educated recommendations to the Procurement Manager.  Your strong background and experience in using Microsoft Packages as well as your attention to detail puts you in an advantageous position.

You will use your discretion when either independently dealing with simple issues or choosing to escalate the critical ones.  In short, you will be an essential member of the team as you contribute to discussions, add your insight to problems and provide solutions all while ensuring that the team runs at optimum efficiency.

You have a proven track record which shows your outstanding ability to prioritise your work, manage deadlines and deliver high quality results in all that you undertake.   You demonstrate your creative and analytical thought process as you embrace all tasks (sometimes ambiguous), drawing upon your experience of working in a construction material industry.  You are used to being part of a busy team and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills – all essential parts of a happy workplace.
