Earthfare is growing, and to support that growth we’re hiring a Head Chef for our busy Glastonbury Eco Grocery store and Deli Counter. The Head Chef will play a crucial role in producing food for packaging and serving, keeping the deli and store stocked up with the delicious foods our customers love!

Our supermarket is ambitious – few other organic wholefood shops can match us for our range of products, and this is your chance to be a part of this retail revolution! We offer £10.00 - £11.00 per hour as a starting rate depending on experience, a pension scheme, and 28 days holiday per year, plus all the training on our products that you can absorb!  This role is full time, 37.5 hours over five days per week (including weekends). Shifts will be arranged between the hours of 8.00am and 6.00pm and we can be flexible with the working patterns as long as we are ensuring our customers’ needs are fully met!

We’re a busy store and the workload is varied – but creativity and organisation are the key.  You’ll take full responsibility for managing the kitchen, taking care to oversee all policies, record keeping and health and safety, alongside supervising and managing a small team of kitchen and deli team members to create delicious food for packaging and serving over the deli counter.  You’ll spend your days cooking up the dishes and snacks our customers love, whilst using your imagination and creative flair to create new dishes and combinations to delight and tickle the tastebuds of our most discerning shoppers.

So, why do we think you’d love this role?  Well, ideally, you’ll have a passion for vegan and vegetarian dishes – and strong commercial experience, with a good understanding of how to maximise profitability.  You’ll be an experienced Head Chef or have experience of managing a small (but perfectly formed) busy kitchen and producing food to a high standard.  Crucially, you’ll have experience in large-batch production, and the ins and outs of the health and safety protocol surrounding cool-chain will be second nature.  It probably goes without saying – but you’ll have achieved your Level 3 Food, Safety and Hygiene certificate and have been cooking your way to greatness for a minimum of 2 years.
