Small Works Manager (Electrical)

Wheeler’s of Westbury are growing and to support that growth we’re hiring a Small Work’s Manager to work with us from our Westbury office. This is a key role within our team, working closely with our Contracts Director To manage the efficient operation of the small works department (electrical) and ensure seamless communication between engineers and the office. Working full time, we are offering a salary of up to £45,000 per annum, company car, pension, 25 days holiday per year, a laptop, mobile phone and free tea and coffee!
You’ll be receiving enquiries for Small Works either direct from clients or internally and will then carry out necessary surveys to determine the extent of works for projects up to the value of £10,000 and produce quotations to deadlines. Managing and monitoring the engineer’s paperwork, job cards and test sheets along with regular reporting to Contract’s Managers, both verbally and written, including labour plan and material updates. There’ll be some supervision and assistance for our engineers on site to help them achieve their objectives, whilst adhering to legislation and company policy, and managing of the call out system.
You’ll be monitoring and reviewing Health and Safety onsite including RAMs, PPE and onsite practice, whilst undertaking site visits to existing and potential new customers. There’ll be the usual attendance at meetings to liaise with clients and you’ll be taking notes to turn into actions as appropriate (you get a free pen!).
So who are we looking for? It goes without saying that you will have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar role and be qualified in City & Guilds 2391 inspection & test, 18th Edition electrical and be a Qualifying Supervisor for NICEIC. If you have an IOSH in Health and Safety that would be a real advantage. A natural team player who displays resilience in all aspects of your role, you have outstanding customer service skills and can glide seamlessly in negotiations with stakeholders at all levels. You don’t have to be a total techy but we do need you to have good standard of IT literacy.
